Lyric Lane Jazz Festival – Friday Night

Night 2 of the Lyric Lane Jazz Festival! Show #1 – Turiya (6pm show): Featuring highly esteemed musicians, Michelle Smith (harp), Kate Pass (double bass) and Talya Valenti (drums), Turiya melds genres including jazz, pop, RnB, and classical, providing a rare opportunity to see the harp explored in a modern jazz setting. Show #2 - ‘I Am Like The Rain’ The Music Of Paul Simon (7.30pm show): Australia’s leading musicians present their album of reimagined Paul Simon works “I Am Like The Rain: The Music of Paul Simon”. Released in July 2020 on ABC Music, and recently a finalist for the Jazz Bell. Show #3 – Pete Jeavons Nonet (9pm show): The Pete Jeavons Nonet primarily draws on the music of American jazz luminaries such as Charles Mingus, Cannonball Adderley, Art Blakey and Oliver Nelson. Repertoire also includes some compositions by Australian jazz musicians/composers including one or two penned by Jeavons himself.
