Withers embarked on a musical career that spanned less than two decades but produced the top 10 hits “Ain’t no sunshine” “Use me” “Just the two of us” “Lovely Day” “Grandmas hands” and his most known hit “Lean on me”  He retired from performing music in 1982 but he has continued to influence artists across  soul, pop, folk, hip hop, blues and jazz genres and last year was inducted into the R&R hall of fame.
